Description: Palustrine Forested Wetland of Needle-leaved Deciduous and Broad-leaved Deciduous in a permanently flooded swamp. Abundance of epiphytic plant growth and Bromiliads.
Conditions: Winter water is present. Later in the winter water level will decrease in depth, but maybe present on the surface or saturated to the surface.

Disturbances: Hydrologically, the Big Cypress has been impacted by regional land-use change in watershed locations to the north and close-by the Tamiami Trail that has altered hydrologic flow.
